Whether you’re driving the sedan or the 5-door hatchback, you’ll notice the feeling — a sense of being comfortable and at ease in the driver’s seat. Visibility is superb in each direction, due to a well-engineered and fully adjustable driving position, as well as to a sharply angled front pillar that provides a wider view to the side. Controls are ergonomically designed and positioned, with the audio system high on the console within easy reach. Even the instruments are soothing, with softly glowing digital metres in a stylishly curved panel. In a car interior comfort begins with space, and the Liana maximizes the amount available to each passenger. Legroom is surprisingly generous, while headroom is exceptional due to the tall cabin. For the driver and all occupants, the seats are designed to minimize fatigue and feature high-quality fabrics that indulge everyone in comfort and style. Wide expanses of glass afford panoramic views that contribute to the open, airy feeling.

Liana provides a generous amount of space not only for occupants, but for their belongings, too. The 5-door hatch boasts a luggage area that is broad, deep, and easily accessible through the wide tailgate. The high roof is a help in stowing items, and the split rear seatbacks fold down so you can squeeze in a few extra bundles of fun. Dual front airbags and side airbags are available as options. Theft security concerns are alleviated by deadlocks and sealed lock mechanisms that prevent locks from opening even if a window is broken. Further protection is provided by a strong steering lock and an immobiliser activated by a chip in the key, so even another key of the same shape won’t start the engine.

The Jimny squeezes maximum utility from compact dimensions. Whether transporting goods or travelling with friends, the Jimny accommodates your needs. Its space-efficient layout seats four adult passengers in comfort. Headroom is more than ample, and Suzuki has carved out extra inches for feet, knees and elbows, so there's plenty of room to stretch.

The stress-free driving position keeps you feeling fresh on the longest of journeys. Even the accelerator, brake pedal and ergonomic shift lever offer refined action that enhances your control. On the JLX models power door locks and electric windows can be fingertip operated by master controls within easy reach of the driver, and steering is power assisted for easier manoeuvrability. The sporty seats are large, comfortable and supportive. The rear seats fold back independently to make room for luggage of different shapes and sizes. When you want to take a nap, simply fold all the seats back. Entering and exiting the Jimny is easy for people of all ages thanks to wide door openings, low side sills, and a front passenger seat that slides forward all the way to make room for rear seat passengers as they board or exit. Quality craftsmanship is clearly apparent in every detail of the Jimny interior. For JLX models, the doors and dashboard are fully trimmed and the seats are upholstered with durable, high-quality fabric. Pockets and compartments are strategically located for easy-access storage of maps, sunglasses, tissues and other small items.

There are plenty of cars on the road today with 4X4 styling and street-machine souls. But the Jimny is a genuine cross-country vehicle. The sturdy ladder-type frame is a solid foundation for serious off-road performance. Its rigid 3-section design helps stabilise the ride and absorb shock from the road. In combination with eight body mounts, a smooth-running engine, and comprehensive noise-reduction measures, the rigid frame helps make the Jimny as quiet as a family saloon. Rigid full-width axles provide a simple yet significant advantage. When one wheel hits a bump, the wheel on the other end of the axle is forced down, increasing surface contact. The result is superior grip on any terrain. The frame floats on a high-performance, 3-link coil suspension that handles highway curves and rocky embankments with equal assurance. Separate shock absorbers and coil springs increase suspension travel and ensure smoother response. The ride is taut yet compliant, providing a high level of comfort for the driver and all passengers.

Safety and Engineering

It's no secret that real beauty comes from within. The Grand Vitara is built on a sound platform cleverly engineered so that the deeper you look, the more there is to appreciate. To begin with, the sturdy ladder frame is fully boxed and designed with built-in crumple zones at the front and rear. In a frontal or rear collision, the crumple zones act like buffers. To help protect occupants in a side impact, the body features a steel-reinforced passenger compartment utilizing high-tensile-strength steel in the A, B and C pillars. On the inside, you're protected by dual airbags that are just as effective in cushioning occupant deceleration in a frontal collision. To enhance child safety, the Grand Vitara features rear-door child safety locks that prevent unauthorized use.
